I, as a citizen of Canada, have prevented a credit card fraud today, a purchase of a macbook pro 15.4inch with a laptop case at exactly 2:30 pm!
OMFG was I was nervous.... I had to stay calm the whole time while I was checking out the name and the address. None of the informations were matching! The client came in the store saying that her laptop got stolen so she wanted to buy a new one so she knew already which one she wanted. As i created her an account here since she said she never had an account here at the store... She gave me her cellphone number. As i typed the number, it told me that there was already 3-4 other accounts created under that number but with all different names... Already, it was very suspicious...to prove that suspiciousness, one of the names listed was one that our stores had warned us in an email few weeks ago that she was a fraud, blah blah blah... Plus, I verified the adress in canada411 to see if it existed and it wasn't! BIG GO GO: call 911 there for me!! So i pretended like it was nothing and told her i was going to go get her computer in the backstore (which I did, but also told my boss about it) my coworker called the cops and we tried to detain her for longest we could... She didn't want to give an ID and she complained for few minutes and left in fury without the purchase (we kept her credit card) the cops came in few mins after and we had to witness them the whole situation. Later on in the evening, the real owner of the credit card came in since she got a call from the police saying that her card just had been prevented from a fraud and she thanked us for it.
It ended up that the suspect had the woman's entire wallet!! She still has 2 other cards, but the real owner luckily cancelled them all in time.
Wow......what a day...! And I worked a double shift...!!!! Anyways, I am proud of myself... First encounter with the cops was to witness a fraud :D and not because I got a speed ticket hahaha!!!
Crazy experience...my heart was pounding like crazy!!!! XD anyways... Im going to sleep!
